PBS Engage
I won’t flood Drupal planet with cross posts, so this is just a pointer to my note about PBS Engage, and the details of my joining the Social Media Advisory Board.
Knight Drupal Initiative: Two new proposals
At yesterday’s open review meeting — read the transcript — two proposals were approved and sent on to the Knight Foundation for potential funding.
- Information-Sharing using FeedAPI and Buddylist is Nick Vidal’s proposal to fund scholarships for development of a project sponsored by the Brazilian Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.
- Facebook Application for Personal or Community Online Newspaper is Dave Cohen’s proposal to expand and host his Drupal for Facebook module.
Combined, these proposals could bring $90,000 (USD) to Drupal development, and introduce new student developers to the Drupal platform.
We now have one open proposal, NewsCloud Newsroom Module, which is being redrafted based on feedback from the community.
Exciting times, to be certain, but we still need more community involvement. If you can take a half hour per month to review the active proposals, we could really start to see some progress. If you are going to a local user meetup, present some of the promotional material or print and distribute the program flyer.
On to Szeged

I know it is three weeks away (so soon, so soon!) but I am starting to get excited about DrupalCON Szeged. I have my travel booked — taking a week of vacation in Hungary as well — and now, well, I am on the program. For reals.
Moshe and I will be doing Using Node Access as a hands-on tutorial and preparation for a BoF session on improving Node Access in Drupal 7.
I will also be doing an intro and Q&A about the Knight Drupal Initiative grant program. (You have all prepared for the review session on Thursday, right?)
A minor horde of Palantiri will be in attendance, so be sure to look for us.
